Etienne Fenech

Etienne has joined Matthew J Mercieca Design Architects at its inception. He successfully obtained his first degree in Architecture and Civil Engineering from the University of Malta in 2005. Degree thesis entitled "Preserving the recent Past for the future...analysing the need of the ‘miracle' material in British defence architecture and the hidden politics in conserving concrete."; dealt with the political and scientific dilemma in Conservation of Modern and Contemporary Materials. His educational experience also included a term at Arhus University in Denmark. In 2010, he has been awarded a licence as an ‘Energy Performance Assessor to Maltese Dwellings' [EPAB/EPC]. Recently he has successfully been award a Master in Science in Sustainable and Environmental Planning Policies from Cardiff University. As part in fulfilment on the master, his thesis titled "Turning Wine-Dark Sea into Blue Gold. Assessing how water is framed within the Union of the Mediterranean" deals how water over the passage of time has been dealt under the definition of Sustainable Development as expressed by United Nations.

Furthermore, Etienne was executive member for three year within the ‘Society of Architecture and Civil Engineering Student' [SACES]. He also chaired as president of the mentioned faculty student's body in 2004. He formed part of a subcommittee for ‘Time for Architecture' of the ‘Kamra tal-Periti' [KtP] unit the end of 2007. He also formed part of the committee group for, ‘Architecture Nights' of the Kamra tal-Periti (KtP) unit the end of 2008. He is currently member a ‘International Council on Monuments and Sites' [ICOMOS] and ‘Malta Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energies Association' [MEEREA]. He is one of the founding directors of ‘Rotaract Malta La Valette' [RMLV], and President of the mentioned international club in 2009. Etienne was award from Rotary International a Paul Harris Award. Currently represent Rotaract Malta in ‘Europe Rotaract International Centre' [ERIC].
