New dreams breathe life into an already existing space. The building’s old design catered for the older generation but posed a challenge for the new occupants and the MJMDA team.
When working with old buildings, we listen carefully to what the existing building is telling us. Here, we focused on evolution. We transitioned the already built fabric into a new way of life.
The residence has a very elongated axial layout with two long spaces that are divided by a central wall. We opened up the dividing wall and transformed it into a connector of space, function and flow. The result is a bright and airy space filled with light and transparent connectivity.
The design also provides an easily obtainable level of cleanliness, all the way up to the upper floor and into the various rooms. The open flow eventually leads to the new master bedroom. Just like that, the distinct aspects of the entire edifice form a pleasing whole.
